Privacy and cookies

What happens to the details you send us through this website, in plain English.

Who we are

This website belongs to PLC & Drives Company Ltd, registered in England, company no. 06337526, of England House, The Sidings, Whalley, Lancashire BB7 9SE. We decide how the details you send us are used. To ask about anything on this page, email [email protected] or phone 01254 824659.

Cookies

This website uses no cookies and does not store anything else in your browser, so there is nothing to accept or decline. There is no advertising, no tracking and no Google Analytics. We see only overall visitor numbers, which our hosting provider counts on its servers without cookies.

When you use the contact form

The form sends us your name, email address and message, plus your company and phone number if you add them. We use them only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go on to work with us, to deal with that work. We never sell them or use them for marketing.

Our reason for using them (the lawful basis) is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and, where you ask us for a quote, taking steps you have asked for before a contract.

Your message reaches us as an email in our mailbox. We keep it for as long as we need it to answer you and for any work that follows, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

If you email or phone us instead, we use what you tell us in the same way.

Who handles your details for us

A few trusted services carry your message to us. Each one handles it only to provide its service to us:

  • Cloudflare, which runs in front of this website. Its Turnstile check on the contact form looks at basic signals from your browser to tell people from spam robots; it uses no cookies.
  • Amazon Web Services, whose email service sends your message to us from its data centre in Stockholm, in the EU.
  • Google Workspace, which holds our email.
  • Our web server, in Germany, which keeps a standard log of page requests, including your internet (IP) address, for 14 days to keep the site secure and working.

Some of these companies may handle data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

The map on our Contact page comes from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map loads, as any website does when you visit it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the details we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete them, or to stop using them. Email [email protected] and we will reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we have used your details, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
